How is Egg Donation Done?

Many people consider donating their eggs to help a deserving couple or individual start a family of their own, but they don’t know how the procedure is done. That’s why we decided to create a blog that goes through the steps of egg donation. From application to donation, we’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Application

The first part of the egg donation process is the application. This application asks you a series of questions to ensure that you meet the requirements to become an egg donor with Simple Surrogacy. These questions are designed to ensure that you are of the right age and with the right body type and lifestyle to donate healthy eggs. Our main goal is to find the best possible eggs that will give our intended parents or individuals the highest possible chance of getting pregnant and having a baby! To view the full list of qualifications, visit our website.

Profile

Once your application has been approved, you can create a profile. This profile will feature information about you and showcase your eggs to intended parents/individuals. Some of the featured information will include your height, age, eye color, and other information unique to you. This profile will also show intended parents photos of you and the type of egg donation arrangement that you are seeking. Intended parents will browse through a collection of profiles and select the ones that best fit their needs. To view a sample egg donor profile, visit our website.

Egg Donation Arrangement

At Simple Surrogacy we deal with multiple egg donation arrangements. From anonymous to open to semi-open donor arrangements, no matter your choice, we can help! These egg donation arrangements will help determine how much, if any, interaction that you have with the intended parents who select your eggs. Visit our website today to learn more about our egg donation arrangement options!

The Medical Process

The first step in the medical process is to start Lupron injections. The egg donor will also begin various hormonal medications to stimulate the development of ovarian follicles to prepare the body for the Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART). This is known as “superovulation” or “controlled ovarian stimulation” (COS). These medications will be given for 9-12 days at different doses depending on the follicle growth. Once the follicle growth is optimal and the most eggs can be retrieved HCG will be administered. After administration the egg retrieval will take place within 34-36 hours.
After sedation a fertility specialist will retrieve the eggs to be harvested. They will pass a needle through the top wall of the vagina and insert it into the ovary to remove an egg. They will repeat this process for 30-60 minutes until they have removed the eggs. The egg donor will be able to go home after 20 minutes of recovery.
The intended mother or gestational surrogate will take a pregnancy test 8-14 days after the transfer is completed. If positive, then the procedure worked and the egg donation process was a success!

Compensation

Compensation for egg donors varies widely based on experience, education, and demand of their eggs.

Inexperienced Donor

The compensation for an inexperienced donor is $5,500, plus all expenses are paid and legal fees are covered. This rate is due to the fact that although the donor has met all of the qualifications and requirements, there is no certain way of knowing the health of their eggs since they have never donated them before.

Experienced Donor

An experienced Egg Donors or otherwise qualified donors are compensated between $7,000-$10,000, and up. The rate is based on prior egg donation success and educational or genetic background. This type of donor receives more than their inexperienced counterparts because we know that there is a high level of success with their eggs.
Regardless of which egg donor category that you fall into, when you choose Simple Surrogacy as your agency you can rest assured knowing that any/all of the expenses related to your act as an egg donor through our program will be taken care of.

The Simple Surrogacy Difference

There are many differences that egg donors and intended parents experience when they choose to work with Simple Surrogacy over other surrogacy agencies. Although some of the differences may seem small, we can guarantee that you will appreciate their impact in the long run.

Financial Difference

One of these differences is that they will both save time and money. Egg Donation can be an expensive process for intended parents and not a profitable experience for egg donors. However at Simple Surrogacy we believe that everyone should be able to experience the joy of raising a child so we work hard to keep our fees low. We also have the benefit of being located in Texas which means that we don’t have any state tax. This allows us to take the financial stress of egg donation away and put the focus back where it belongs, on the joy of having a child!

Our Experienced Staff

The staff at Simple Surrogacy are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, several of our staff have been past egg donors or surrogates themselves. Stephanie Scott, our Executive Program Director, has over 14 years of experience in the surrogacy and egg donation community, and has been a surrogate three times! Kristen Hanson, our Executive Director of Finance, is an experienced Egg Donor and is very experienced with all aspects of surrogacy involving Egg Donation. This difference gives us an insider look at the process and allows us to better connect with our clients!
