While the act of carrying and delivering a child is undoubtedly a powerful and selfless gift, what often goes underappreciated is the emotional and relational journey that starts long before pregnancy: finding the right Intended Parents. In many ways, this step lays the foundation for the entire surrogacy experience. A great match creates mutual trust, shared goals, and a journey that feels joyful, cooperative, and deeply meaningful.

Being a surrogate is about more than just carrying a baby. It’s about partnering with a hopeful family, walking beside them on a path they’ve likely dreamed about—and struggled toward—for years. That’s why matching isn’t about filling out a checklist—it’s about building a relationship. The right connection between surrogate and Intended Parents can make the entire experience feel natural, respectful, and even joyful. A thoughtful, well-matched partnership ensures that:

Once a surrogate is accepted into our program, the matching process officially begins. Intended Parents who are also working with us will have completed a thorough intake process, including a profile describing their background, preferences, and values. However, these profiles are first anonymized to protect everyone’s privacy and allow for unbiased, honest consideration.
The Intended Parent(s)’ profile may include preferences and requirements such as:
Simple Surrogacy takes great care in reviewing every surrogate’s profile to find potential matches based on compatibility, not just criteria. We don’t just match on paper—we look for human connections. Are there shared values? Similar communication styles? A mutual desire for closeness (or a more formal relationship)? All of this matters.
As a surrogate, you always come first.
We believe you deserve to feel empowered and respected in this process, and that begins with choice. Once we identify a potential match, you’ll be given the Intended Parents’ profile to review—without their personal identifying information.
This gives you the opportunity to:
You have the time and space to reflect on whether this feels like a journey you’d want to share. If the match doesn’t feel right, that’s okay. We’ll keep looking. You are never rushed or pressured.
If you feel interested and inspired by what you see in the Intended Parents’ profile, the next step is to talk to your program coordinator. We’ll go over your thoughts, answer your questions, and prepare to move forward.
At this point, if you’re excited about the possibility of a match, we’ll share your surrogate profile with the Intended Parents for their review. This includes your family background, motivation for becoming a surrogate, previous pregnancy history, lifestyle, and your own preferences for communication and expectations.
If the Intended Parents also feel positively about your profile, then it’s time to take the next step—talking to each other.
The first official conversation happens over a video or phone call—what we call a Match Call. This is a casual, friendly conversation where you and the Intended Parents get to speak directly for the first time, facilitated by our experienced team.
This isn’t an interview—it’s a chance to:
You might talk about your family, your reasons for pursuing surrogacy, or what you envision for the journey ahead. Many surrogates say they feel nervous beforehand, but by the end of the call, they’re glowing. There’s something incredibly moving about meeting someone who’s placing their deepest hopes and trust in you.
And when it clicks—it clicks. You just know.
If the Match Call goes well, and both sides want to continue, we’ll schedule a face-to-face meeting. This usually takes the form of a shared meal—something casual and relaxed, like lunch or dinner. It’s your opportunity to see if the rapport you felt over the phone holds true in person.
This meeting often deepens the emotional connection. You might talk more about your families, your hopes for the journey, or what kind of relationship you want after birth. It’s also a chance to ask meaningful questions like:
Remember: this is your journey too. Your comfort and peace of mind matter just as much as theirs.
After the face-to-face meeting, both the surrogate and the Intended Parents will contact the Executive Program Director to share how they felt. If both parties express enthusiasm and are ready to move forward, we consider the match official.
At this point, the team at Simple Surrogacy will begin the next stages of the process: medical screenings, legal contracts, and embryo transfer preparation.
